Showcase Showdown...!
Every other week the groups will merge together to show each other what we've achieved over the past 2 weeks.

New Grouping System
There are now 5 groups, all with a permanent tutor. These are divided by ability. The groups are:

  • Semibreves. The most advanced group. These people are either at, or very close to attaining their grade 1 ABRSM exam. Their tutor is Benjamin Tubb.
  • Minims. The intermediate group. These people are preparing a preparatory test based on the ABRSM prep. test. Once this is passed they will move up to the next group. Their tutor is Sharon Ide.
  • Crotchets. The is the advanced basic group. These people that are grasping the basics but still need time to practise and to master some more techniques. Their tutor is Steve Burgess.
  • Quavers. This group is for the new starters. In this group they learn notes, rhythms and other basic techniques, before advancing to the next group. Their tutor is Lynne Cole.
  • Rollers. This is the only non-ability group. This is the percussion only ensemble who with their tutor, Martin Hissey learn the basics and more complex techniques.

Every 6-7 weeks (every half-term) the tutors will sit down and decide if players need promoting or demoting from section to section in order for them to get the best out of their time at the YWDB Training Band.

Tea & Drinks
Tea, Coffee, and Squash are available for 10p a cup for parents during, and children after rehearsal. Please help yourself!
